Tsurcan Karina Valerievna
Tsurcan Karina Valerievna, born October 6, 1974 in Chisinau, lived in Moldova until 2007, when she moved to Moscow; at the time of her arrest, she was a member of the board of directors and head of the trading block of Inter RAO PJSC. Sentenced to 15 years in a general regime penal colony on charges of committing a crime under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Espionage"). She received Russian citizenship in April 2016, having renounced her Moldovan citizenship, however, the FSB believes that Turcan committed the crime while she was a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, and therefore she is accused of espionage, and not treason under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation; according to information from the Romanian Embassy in Moscow, she also received Romanian citizenship on April 2, 2014, which Turcan categorically denies.
Has been in custody since June 14, 2018.
