Kartashov Ivan Nikolaevich, a resident of St. Petersburg.
On December 18, 2024, by decision of the Vasileostrovsky District Court, he was sent to a pre-trial detention center on suspicion of committing a crime under Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cooperation on a confidential basis with a foreign state"). According to the prosecution, he did not agree with Russia's political course and the war that had begun in Ukraine and allegedly tried to establish contact with foreign intelligence agencies by asking an acquaintance for help. The purpose of the request was to transfer classified documentation related to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Kartashov contacted a CIA representative via email and messenger, declaring his intention to facilitate a change of the political regime in the country. He also handed over a number of electronic files to the intelligence agency representative.
