Nikolai Malkerov

Nikolai Malkerov was born in 1988, resident of Kostroma. On 14 February 2025, he was sentenced to 4 years in a penal colony under article 275.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (‘Cooperation on a confidential basis with a representative of a foreign state’). He is in custody.

According to the prosecution's version, ‘in April 2024, through the Internet, Malkerov established contact with the Legion “Freedom of Russia”, an organisation recognised as a terrorist organisation and banned on the territory of Russia, informing about the desire to assist them in their activities against the Russian Federation’. The representative of the Legion turned out to be an FSB (Russian Federal Security Service) officer.
