Nikolai Suslov<\/strong><\/a>, an entrepreneur of Ukrainian origin who had been living in Dubai, was detained at Yekaterinburg airport in May 2023. Following repeated short-term arrests, he was charged with treason and remanded in custody. The prosecution alleges that he had ‘regularly and deliberately’ transferred funds to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oleg Lysenko<\/strong><\/a>, a Muscovite and likewise an entrepreneur of Ukrainian origin, was detained in March 2025. He was initially handed fifteen days in administrative custody for petty hooliganism, then remanded in custody on a charge of treason for transferring money to an account said to be ‘connected to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viktoria Sergeyeva<\/strong><\/a>, a resident of Crimea, was detained at Sochi airport in August 2025. Security officers established that she had spent nearly the entire summer in Ukraine and the authorities claimed to have found evidence of transfers to Ukraine within banking applications on her phone. Following a sequence of repeated short-term arrests and almost five months of isolation, she was charged with treason in connection with transfers to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heorhii Tabuiev<\/strong><\/a>, a resident of Donetsk, was likely abducted on 28 February 2023. He was tortured for a month before being formally arrested on criminal charges. He was accused of the unlawful acquisition and storage of an explosive device, and subsequently of treason \u2014 on the grounds that he had allegedly photographed the homes of local officials on behalf of Ukraine\u2019s Security Service and later come into possession of an explosive device. The case rests on his initial confession and other fabricated evidence. He was sentenced to fourteen years and nine months in a strict-regime penal colony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three Ukrainian servicemen \u2014 Oleksandr Solodky<\/strong><\/a>, Serhiy Khrypko<\/strong><\/a> and Maksym Savenkov<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 were sentenced to custodial terms for participation in a terrorist organisation, solely because of their service in the Ukrainian Aidar battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tatyana Arshinova<\/strong><\/a> is a well-known activist from Nizhny Novgorod who took part in demonstrations in support of Sentsov and Navalny, and in protests against the ‘foreign agents’ law and the war. She has faced persecution on multiple occasions. On 17 July 2025, she was remanded in custody on a charge of participation in an extremist organisation, arising from posts she had published about Navalny. She was subsequently also charged with participation in a terrorist organisation \u2014 the Freedom of Russia Legion \u2014 on the basis that she had, allegedly at the Legion’s direction, painted the words ‘Freedom of Russia’<\/em> and drawn the white-blue-white flag in public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pyotr Krasko<\/strong><\/a>, a Muscovite originally from Crimea, was detained in June 2024. He was charged with participation in an unlawful armed formation acting against the interests of the Russian Federation, on the grounds that he had allegedly shared information about Russian troop movements in a chat linked to the Freedom of Russia Legion. Together with a separate non-political conviction carrying a one-year sentence, Pyotr Krasko was sentenced to nine years in a strict-regime penal colony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aleksei Shpringer<\/strong><\/a>, from Khabarovsk, published a post on his VKontakte page that read: ‘The only Russians their grandfathers would be proud of today are the RDK (RVC) and the Legion \u2014 real fighters.’ <\/em>In February 2024, he was detained on a charge of justifying terrorism and was subsequently sentenced to three years in a penal colony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aleksandr Titov<\/strong><\/a>, from Leningrad Oblast, holds both Russian and Ukrainian citizenship and spent twenty years living in Ukraine. Criminal proceedings for justification of terrorism were brought against him over comments he had left in the Telegram channel of a Ukrainian commentator linked to Azov. When he failed to appear at a court hearing in November 2024 due to an asthma attack, he was remanded in custody. He was sentenced to five and a half years in a penal colony. His health has deteriorated significantly since his imprisonment. Two school-age children are waiting for him at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mikhail Mungalov<\/strong><\/a>, from Krasnodar, is a combat veteran of the Syrian war who worked at a Magnit supermarket. He was arrested in April 2023 on sabotage charges, allegedly after setting fire to a relay cabinet out of discontent with the so-called ‘special military operation.’ He maintains that he was blackmailed and that an unknown individual had threatened to inform the security services that he had been making donations to Navalny\u2019s Anti-Corruption Foundation. He was sentenced to ten years in a penal colony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
