Political scientist Aleksandr Kynev has been diagnosed with two fractures to his lower leg following his detention, the Telegram channel Slovo Zashchite<\/a><\/em> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aleksandr Kynev has been admitted to the hospital at Matrosskaya Tishina<\/em> remand prison. His leg has been placed in a plaster cast, and his condition is described as moderate. According to Slovo Zashchite<\/em>, the information came from anonymous sources in the medical unit of the Moscow directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN)<\/em>. The channel says the fractures are the result of torture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aleksandr Kynev was detained on 24 September and remanded in custody the following day on a charge of illegal production, sale or distribution of narcotic drugs on a large scale (Article 228.1, Part 4(d) of the Russian Criminal Code). He denies the charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aleksandr Kynev specialises in the organisation of political power in Russia’s regions and is an expert on Russian elections. He has actively monitored and commented on violations of electoral law.
