There are currently many projects supporting political prisoners: from very small volunteer groups to professional human rights organisations with vast experience, from support group channels with a few dozen subscribers to media outlets with millions of views. Nevertheless, your participation and your willingness to help victims of politically motivated criminal prosecution are as important and necessary as ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Solidarity with political prisoners is growing, but so is the scale of repression. Between 2012 and 2023 alone, at least 3,000 people were prosecuted in politically motivated criminal cases, and the actual figures are likely to be significantly higher. According to internal monitoring data collected by the project \u2018Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial,\u2019 no more than 7,000 people have been prosecuted in cases with clear political motives between 2008 and June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In these circumstances, the need to maintain lists of political prisoners, support those who are persecuted for political reasons, and collect and disseminate information about political repression has not only not disappeared but has become even more apparent.
