Yelena Albegova moved from North Ossetia to Moscow in 2015 to help her younger sister care for her child. She worked at a Pyaterochka supermarket.
She was sentenced to three years in a penal colony under the article on financing the activities of an extremist organisation. The criminal prosecution was prompted by a transfer of 1,000 rubles that Albegova sent to the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) in August 2021.
