According to the prosecution, in 2023, Nikolai Artamonov published a video and commentary online discrediting the use of the Russian Armed Forces. Since he had previously been held administratively liable for a similar act, a case was opened against him for repeated discrediting of the army. Furthermore, the man was accused of publicly justifying, promoting, and justifying terrorism online, as well as preparing to join a terrorist organization due to his attempt to join the Freedom of Russia Legion. According to the investigation, he filled out a form, wrote an oath, and received route instructions for crossing into Ukraine. On August 3, 2023, Artamonov was detained by security forces on a commuter train at the Novorossiysk station. The court sentenced him to 9 years.
