Barbazyuk Maksim Nikolaevich, born on October 30, 1982, and lives in Tver. He was sentenced under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (“Organizing the activities of a religious organization in respect of which a decision has been adopted to liquidate it in connection with the carrying out of extremist activity”) to 6 years’ imprisonment in connection with his membership in a community of Jehovah’s Witnesses banned in Russia.

He had been under a travel restriction. On February 13, 2026, after the verdict was announced, he was taken into custody. The criminal case was initiated on June 29, 2023.
