Bessarabov Aleksei Evgenievich, born December 5, 1976 in Novgorod region, resident of Sevastopol, citizen of Ukraine and Russia, graduated from the Sevastopol Naval Institute named after Nakhimov and from the department of journalism of the Kyiv State University named after Taras Shevchenko, served for several years in the intelligence center of the Ukrainian Navy, then was an expert of the Ukrainian public organisation “Center for Assistance to the Study of Geopolitical Problems and Euro-Atlantic Cooperation of the Black Sea Region “Nomos”” and deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine “Black Sea Security” until March 2014. He is an entrepreneur, married, has a minor child.

Sentenced to 14 years in a strict regime penal colony and a 300,000 roubles fine under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph a) of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Preparation for sabotage as part of an organized group”), Part 3 of Article. 222.1 ("Illegal acquisition, storage of explosive substances or devices committed by an organized group") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
