Serhii Blyzniuk is a citizen of Ukraine and a serviceman of the 12th Azov Special Purpose Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. On 8 March 2022, he was seriously wounded and evacuated to a bunker at Azovstal. He was taken prisoner on 18 May 2022.
On 27 November 2025, Blyzniuk’s case was referred to the Southern District Military Court. On 17 March 2026, Judge Hurhen Dovlatbekyan found Blyzniuk guilty under the articles on undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activity and participation in a terrorist community and sentenced him to 18 years’ imprisonment.
The defence appealed the verdict.
