Pavel Gennadievich Bozhko, born on 13 June 1992, lived in the city of Berdyansk and served in the 501st Separate Marine Battalion of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, he was accused of allegedly murdering three civilians in Mariupol under subparagraphs ‘a, g, l’ Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder of two or more persons committed by an organised group on the grounds of political or ideological hatred") and Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruel treatment of the civilian population, use of prohibited means and methods in armed conflict"). our project does not have access to the materials of the criminal case.

He was captured between 1 and 4 April 2022, and in January 2023 it became known that he had died, probably from torture, in IK-1, a prison facility of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Tula region.

The inclusion of individuals on a list of persons subject to criminal prosecution, which is highly likely to involve political motivation and serious violations of the law, does not mean that they are recognised as political prisoners.
