Buzmakov Kirill Sergeevich

Buzmakov Kirill Sergeevich was born on 27 January 1986, lived in Yessentuki, Stavropol Krai. He was a motorcyclist and worked as a sales representative. He was seriously ill, diagnosed with cancer of the IV stage.

He was charged under part 1 of article 30, paragraph ‘a’ of part 2 of article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code (‘Preparing to commit a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy’, punishable by up to 10 years' imprisonment). On 27 February 2023 he was sentenced under part 1 of article 222 of the Russian Criminal Code (‘Illegal possession of ammunition for firearms’) to 3 years' imprisonment in a penal colony. On the aggregate of sentences he faced up to 13 years of imprisonment.

He was imprisoned from 8 October 2022; until 27 March 2024 he was in pre-trial detention, then transferred to house arrest.

He died on 20 July 2024 under unknown circumstances, presumably from the effects of the torture he suffered in detention.
