Vasyl Chykh is a Ukrainian citizen and a serviceman of the Azov Special Operations Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, holding the rank of soldier. He was presumably captured in Mariupol in May 2022.
On 26 May 2026, Vasyl Chykh was added to the Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service's list of extremists and terrorists.
In March 2026, his case was transferred to the Southern District Military Court. On 7 April 2026, Judge Oleg Terentyev found Vasyl Chykh guilty under the article concerning participation in the activities of a terrorist community and sentenced him to 6 years' imprisonment. The sentence was not appealed.
