Sentenced to 10 years in a strict regime penal colony under Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation") due to the fact that he allegedly joined the Islamic organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir, reliably knowing that the said organisation is recognised as terrorist and its activities are prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.
