Vladyslav Korol is a citizen of Ukraine and a serviceman in the Azov Special Purpose Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. He is held in captivity, reportedly since 20 May 2022.

On 5 February 2026, Korol's case was referred to the Southern District Military Court. On 6 March 2026, Judge Igor Degtyaryov found Korol guilty under Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Russian Criminal Code ('Participation in a terrorist community') and Article 205.3 of the Russian Criminal Code ('Undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activity') and sentenced him to 18 years' imprisonment in a strict-regime penal colony.

According to the prosecution, in December 2017, Vladyslav Korol 'voluntarily joined the Azov regiment'. After undergoing military training in the Zaporizhzhia region, he allegedly served as a radio operator and participated in combat operations against Russian servicemen.
