Magnitsky Sergey Leonidovich
Magnitsky Sergei Leonidovich was born on 8 April 1972, an auditor who worked for Firestone Duncan, a consulting firm that provided legal services to Bill Browder's Hermitage Capital Management.
On 24 November 2008, he was arrested on charges of committing crimes under Part 3 and 5 of Article 33, Part 2 of Article 199 of the Russian Criminal Code (‘Organisation and complicity in tax evasion from an organisation by a group of persons by prior conspiracy on a particularly large scale’), after he claimed that there were schemes for embezzlement of budget funds through illegal tax refunds; the law enforcement agencies whose criminal activities he had exposed were involved in the criminal case.
Died in custody due to lack of medical care on 16 November 2009.
