Mitko Valery Bronislavovich

Mitko Valery Bronislavovich was born on 12 July 1941, lived in St. Petersburg. Specialist in hydroacoustics, doctor of technical sciences, professor, president of the Arctic Public Academy of Sciences, retired captain of the first rank.

On 11 February 2020 he was sent under house arrest on charges of committing a crime under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code (‘High treason’, up to 20 years' imprisonment), he did not admit guilt. The preventive measure was repeatedly extended, the scientist was forbidden to take walks, despite his age, health condition (a heart disease, 3 heart attacks, 5 stents in coronary vessels) and repeated hospitalisations.

He died on 2 October 2022.
