Muradov Daud Arbievich
Muradov Daud Arbievich
Muradov Daud Arbievich was born on 8 January 2002, moved with his family to France from Chechnya in 2017 and was an asylum seeker.
On 11 December 2020, he was deported from France to Russia. The same day he was charged under part 1 of article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (‘Facilitating terrorist activity’, with a maximum of 15 years‘ imprisonment); later the charges were toughened, charging him under part 4 of Article 205.1 (’Organising a terrorist act’, with a maximum of life imprisonment), part 3 of Article 222.1 (‘Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, forwarding or carrying of explosives or explosive devices committed by an organised group’, with a maximum of 12 years‘ imprisonment) and part 3 of Article 222.1 (’Illegal manufacture of explosives, illegal manufacture, alteration or repair of explosive devices committed by an organised group‘, with a maximum of 20 years’ imprisonment) of the Russian Criminal Code. His prosecution was a result of security forces finding criticism of Chechen Republic leader Ramzan Kadyrov on his phone.
Muradov denied his guilt and was subjected to torture; the Memorial Human Rights Centre believes that it is highly probable that he was completely or partially innocent.
He died in a detention centre in Grozny on the night of 5-6 February 2022.
