On June 11, 2025, under Part 1.1 and Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Involvement in the activities of an extremist organisation and participation in it") in connection with his involvement in the Jehovah's Witnesses community he was sentenced to a fine of 600 thousand rubles. He had been in custody since April 2024. He was released after the verdict was announced.
