Oleksandr Panov, a serviceman of the Azov Separate Special Purpose Detachment of the National Guard of Ukraine, went missing in Mariupol in May 2022.
On 25 November 2025, Panov's case was referred to the Southern District Military Court. On 24 February 2026, Judge Ilya Bezgub found Panov guilty under the articles on undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activity and participation in a terrorist community and sentenced him to a term of imprisonment that has not been disclosed.
On 13 January 2026, Oleksandr Panov was added to the Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service's list of extremists and terrorists.
