The appellate court overturned the sentence, but upon retrial the punishment remained the same. He was under a written undertaking not to leave.

On April 3, 2025, he was detained in a new case under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (organization of extremist activity). The next day he was sent to custody.
