Charged with crimes under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (‘High treason’) and Part 1 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 226 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (‘Attempted illegal transfer across the state border of the Russian Federation of materials, equipment, technologies, scientific and technical information or the results of intellectual activity that can be used in the creation of weapons or military equipment’).
He was held in custody, but on 20 February 2025, due to illness, he was released under a ban on certain activities. He died on 2 April 2025.
