Ruslan Sereda was born on 7 December 1971. He is a citizen of Ukraine, a junior sergeant, and a serviceman of the 12th Azov Special Purpose Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was reportedly taken prisoner in Mariupol in late March 2022. On 9 December 2024, Judge Timur Mashukov of the Southern District Military Court found him guilty under Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Russian Criminal Code ('Participation in a terrorist community') and Article 205.3 of the Russian Criminal Code ('Undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activity'). The sentence imposed has not been disclosed.
