Mikhail Stanislavovich Shevchuk, born on November 30, 1986, lives in Saransk. On September 19, 2025, under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (organization of the activities of a religious organization that was ordered to be liquidated in connection with extremist activity), in connection with his membership in the community of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which is banned in Russia, he was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in a general-regime penal colony.

He was held in custody from February 17 to May 3, 2023, when he was transferred to house arrest. On August 4, 2023, the measure of restraint was replaced with a ban on certain activities. He was taken back into custody after the verdict was announced.
