Shulyarenko Sergei Aleksandrovich, born November 16, 1984, and lives in the city of Birobidzhan, Jewish Autonomous Oblast.

He was sentenced to seven years in a general regime penal colony for a crime under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Organizing the activities of an extremist organisation") and Part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Russian Criminal Code (financing extremist activities) in connection with his membership in a community of Jehovah's Witnesses, banned in Russia.

On June 1, 2023, the appellate court reduced the sentence to 6 years and 9 months in a general regime penal colony. The criminal case was opened on May 14, 2018, and he was under a written undertaking not to leave the country.

He was taken into custody after the verdict was announced on December 19, 2022.
