Shvedov Roman Valerievich

Shvedov Roman Valeryevich was born on 15 June 1985, lived in the village of Zimovniki, Rostov Oblast, held anarchist views.

On 18 December 2024 he was sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony under part 2 of Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Act of terrorism resulting in significant property damage") for setting fire to the building of the administration of Zimovniki district, Rostov Oblast. He was in a depressed state, refused help from human rights organisations, believing that it was impossible to help him, and called for help to other political prisoners.

Taken into custody on 30 September 2022, he committed suicide 5 hours after the verdict on 18 December 2024.
