Smirnov Danila Alekseevich

Danila Smirnov, a school student from Astrakhan, was arrested in early 2025, at the age of 14 or 15. Danila was critical of the Russian leadership and opposed Russia's war in Ukraine. According to investigators, the teenager engaged in a Telegram conversation with unknown individuals, whom the prosecution believes to be representatives of the Freedom of Russia Legion. Danila sent them a 16-second video recording of himself pledging his oath and a photograph of the Baku Mosque in Astrakhan. The student faces up to 10 years of imprisonment for participating in a terrorist organization.
