Sokolov Yevgeny Yurievich
Sokolov Yevgeny Yuryevich was born on 18 July 1976, lived in Voronezh, and worked as an electrician. On 30 May 2024, he was convicted under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (‘Participation in the activities of an extremist organisation’) in connection with his membership in the Jehovah’s Witnesses community, which is banned in Russia, and sentenced to three years’ suspended imprisonment with a three-year probation period. He was held in custody from 13 July 2020 and released on 1 December 2020 under a ban on certain actions.
