Sorokin Andrei Mikhailovich
Andrei Sorokin was born on 13 August 1966 and was a resident of Kansk. He was charged under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code ('Organisation of the activities of a religious organisation in respect of which a decision has been made to dissolve it due to extremist activities') in connection with his membership in a community of Jehovah's Witnesses banned in Russia.
He was detained on 20 November 2025 and placed under house arrest the following day. On 19 March 2026, he was released under restrictions on certain activities.
On 9 August 2026, he died in a hospital in Krasnoyarsk. He had pancreatic cancer.
