Sviridov Sergei Aleksandrovich
Sergei Sviridov, a resident of Barnaul, was arrested in January 2024 and charged with confidential cooperation with foreign entities (Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), attempted terrorism (Article 30, Part 3; Article 205, Part 1 of the Criminal Code), participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (Article 205.5, Part 2 of the Criminal Code), and undergoing training for terrorist purposes (Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code). On August 26, 2024, Sviridov was sentenced to 17 years and 7 months. He suffered from a cancer, yet the courts repeatedly denied his release for medical treatment. It was only after Sviridov fell into a coma and lost the ability to breathe on his own that the court finally authorized his release for transfer to a hospice. Sviridov passed away in the hospice on June 12, 2026—two weeks after his release.
