Vorobyov Aleksei Gennadievich

Vorobyov Aleksei Gennadievich, born December 18, 1978, and lives in Moscow. He is a PhD in engineering and an associate professor at the Rocket Engines Department of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI). He is married and has a young child.

He was sentenced by the Moscow City Court under Article 275 (“High Treason”), Part 1 of Article 30, Part 3 of Article 189 (“Preparation for the illegal export by an organized group from the Russian Federation or the transfer to a foreign organisation of raw materials, materials, equipment, technologies, scientific and technical information, works (services), which the accused obviously can use to create means of delivering weapons of mass destruction, and in respect of which export controls have been established”), Part 3 of Article 30, Part 3 of Article 226.1 (“Attempted smuggling of equipment that can be used in the creation of military equipment, weapons, as part of an organised group”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to 20 years in a strict regime penal colony and a fine of 1 million roubles (~€10400).

In custody since February 15, 2019.
