Help Provide Legal Support for Political Prisoners
Every month we fund legal help for political prisoners. Sometimes it’s a single instance of support, such as paying for a legal consultation or helping a victim’s loved ones cover a defence lawyer’s fees for a month or two.
But there are cases in which we are involved continuously.
Some of the trials have been dragging on for years, and every month we pay lawyers for their work, even when donations fall short. We simply cannot stop providing this support as it is truly vital to political prisoners.
€2030 — these are our monthly expenses for a few of the ongoing cases:
€627 will ensure legal help for Nikolai Trofimov, accused of Nazism rehabilitation for applying black paint to a Victory banner and a Russian flag.
€327 are needed to protect Mikhail Krieger’s rights in detention, pass on letters and parcels and refill his prison account. Krieger is an activist from Moscow and founder of the Union of Solidarity with Political Prisoners. He was sentenced to 7 years behind bars for Facebook posts.
€623 will finance legal help for a pensioner from Moscow. He is suspected of “collaborating with a foreign state or organisation”.
€327 will provide legal help for a resident of Yekaterinburg. In the course of the investigation, he was sent to undergo involuntary psychiatric treatment.
These are some of our monthly costs to help political prisoners; and we rely on regular financial support to meet these obligations.
UPD Thank you for your support! We’ve reached the goal!
