Nineteen prisoners of war, sentenced to long terms in Russia, have returned to Ukraine

150 Ukrainian military personnel have been released as part of a prisoner exchange. Among them were 19 individuals previously convicted in Russia and given lengthy prison sentences, 15 of whom had been sentenced to life imprisonment, according to Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Our project has identified 17 of these convicted prisoners of war. Twelve were sentenced to life imprisonment:

Three others were sentenced to 30 years in prison:

Eskender Kudasov was returned after receiving a sentence of 29.5 years, while Denis Fedirko had been sentenced to 24.5 years.

Most of these men were captured during the defence of Mariupol.

In total, 150 military personnel and seven civilians have now returned to Ukraine.
