Sentenced to 14 years for photographing the graves of Russian troops: Yaroslavl resident convicted of high treason

Nikolai Shcherbakov, a 48-year-old resident of Yaroslavl who the prosecution alleged had been collecting information about the graves of Russian troops, has been sentenced to 14 years in a high-security penal colony. This was reported by the press service of the Yaroslavl Oblast Court.

According to the court, Nikolai Shcherbakov had been visiting the cemetery since October 2024, secretly photographing and filming the graves of Russian troops before sending the material to representatives of Ukraine’s security services. He was found guilty of high treason (Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code).

The case reached the court in early August. Judging by a still from operational footage, Nikolai Shcherbakov’s detention took place during the winter.
