Basyrov Artyom Arturovich

Artyom Basyrov is a technical college graduate from Kemerovo who holds nationalist views. In August 2022, he was arrested on charges of preparing to participate in an illegal armed group for allegedly wanting to join the Freedom of Russia Legion. He was sentenced to three years and six months of imprisonment, and while serving his sentence, another criminal case was opened for talking to cellmates—under articles on aiding and justifying terrorism, and participation in a terrorist organization. On August 6, 2025, the court sentenced Basyrov, in addition to his previous sentence, to 12 years and 3 months in a special regime penal colony. The basis for the new charge was the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to designate the Legion as a terrorist organization, which, in turn, refers, among other things, to Basyrov's first criminal case.
