In May 2023, Andrei Gneushev wrote a comment on his Telegram channel criticizing the intelligentsia's pacifism and praising the Russian Volunteer Corps. Two years later, a criminal case was opened against him for publicly justifying terrorism. On January 27, 2026, the court sentenced Gneushev, a father of five, to 5 years and 1 month in a general regime penal colony, taking him into custody in the courtroom.
