Pyotr Krasko, a native of Crimea and a Moscow resident, was the father of an underage daughter and worked as a designer. He was charged with participating in an illegal armed group for purposes directed against the interests of the Russian Federation for allegedly transmitting information "about the movements of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation" in a chat room associated with the Freedom of Russia Legion. Krasko was also tried concurrently for theft and sentenced to one year in a general regime penal colony; the final sentence was determined based on the combined sentences.
