Serhii Prud is a Ukrainian citizen and a serviceman of the Azov Special Operations Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was captured in Mariupol in 2022.
On 17 March 2026, Prud was added to the so-called list of extremists and terrorists maintained by the Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service.
On 27 April 2026, the Southern District Military Court found Serhii Prud guilty under Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Russian Criminal Code ('Participation in the activities of a terrorist community') and Article 205.3 ('Training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities') and sentenced him to 19 years’ imprisonment in a maximum-security penal colony.
On 23 October 2026, he returned to Ukraine as part of a prisoner-of-war exchange.
