On 27 August 2026, Judge Nikolai Tereshkov of the occupation-run Chaplynka Interdistrict Court of Kherson Region found Shevchenko guilty under Paragraph 'd' of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Russian Criminal Code ('Dissemination of knowingly false information about the Russian armed forces motivated by hatred') and sentenced her to 5 years and 6 months' imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony. She was remanded in custody after the sentence was pronounced.
According to the prosecution, in August and September 2023, Shevchenko 'posted comments on Telegram in the "Nova Kakhovka Chat" community. The posts contained knowingly false information about the involvement of the Russian Armed Forces in the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant on 6 June 2023.'
