Serhii Tymoshev is a citizen of Ukraine and a senior soldier in the Azov Special Purpose Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was reportedly taken prisoner in Mariupol on 18 May 2022.
In July 2026, he was found guilty under the articles on participation in a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activity. The court sentenced him to 19 years and 6 months' imprisonment in a strict-regime penal colony.
According to the prosecution, in March 2020 Tymoshev 'voluntarily joined the Azov Special Purpose Detachment... From April to May 2020, he underwent training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activity. From February to May 2022, Tymoshev actively participated in combat operations in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic.'
