Yaubasarov Vener Rinatovich
Vener Yaubasarov was born on 14 October 1992. He is a Russian citizen and a resident of the village of Starosubkhangulovo, Burzyansky District, Republic of Bashkortostan. He is married and has two young children. He is a farmer and beekeeper and an environmental activist who participated in the campaign to protect Mount Kushtau.
On 7 February 2025, he was convicted under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Russian Criminal Code ('Participation in mass riots accompanied by violence, the use of objects posing a danger to others, or armed resistance to a government official') and Part 1 of Article 318 ('Use of violence not dangerous to life or health, or the threat of violence against a government official or their relatives in connection with the performance of their official duties') and sentenced to 4 years and 6 months' imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony.
On 24 April 2026, the court replaced Yaubasarov's unserved prison sentence with compulsory labour at a correctional centre for 1 year, 7 months and 8 days.
He had been deprived of his liberty since 25 January 2024.
