Mikhail Aid, a graduate of Tomsk Polytechnic Institute, was found guilty of high treason, aiding terrorist activities, and inciting such activities for expressing support for the Freedom of Russia Legion via messaging apps. In private chats and a public online group, Aid urged people to join the Legion and sign up for its UAV operation courses. The young man was reportedly detained in August 2024. On October 15, 2025, a military court sentenced him to 14 years in a maximum-security penal colony. During an appeal in February 2026, the sentence was modified—though the legal classification of the charges remained unchanged—but details regarding the modification are unknown.
