Yuri Boyko, from the city of Prokhladny in Kabardino-Balkaria, worked as a tinsmith for Russian Railways. In February 2024, he was detained in the Belgorod region. According to the investigation, he sent an SBU representative an application form to join the "Azov" regiment, along with a video of himself taking an oath, after which he intended to travel to Ukraine to fight on its side. Boyko was charged with participation in a terrorist organization and attempted high treason, and was sentenced to 17 years of imprisonment.
