Viktor Gorkovenko is a mobilized sergeant in the Russian Armed Forces from Yakutia. According to investigators, in the spring of 2024, he left his unit without permission and went to Omsk, where he joined the "Freedom of Russia" Legion, which is banned in Russia. Acting on instructions from the organization, in October 2024, he painted graffiti on buildings and set fire to a railway relay cabinet. Gorkovenko was charged with treason, terrorism, participation in a terrorist organization, undergoing terrorism training, vandalism, and leaving his post without permission. He faces up to life in prison.
