Aleksei Ivanov, a resident of Udmurtia, a real estate agency director and father of a young child, was detained—and, by all accounts, sent to a pre-trial detention center—on January 9, 2025. He was sentenced to five years and three months on charges of justifying and inciting terrorism, based on two comments he posted on Telegram. In one of the comments, he allegedly called for the overthrow of the government, while in the other, he justified the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Crimean Bridge on October 8, 2022. On appeal, his sentence was reduced by one month.
