Leonid Kuzminykh, a resident of Ozyorsk in the Chelyabinsk oblast, was found guilty of calling for activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation. The charge stemmed from a message he posted in a private Telegram chat for friends who play the computer game Dota, urging them to fund the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The court rejected the defense's arguments that the message was non-public and intended as a joke. The prosecution also relied on linguistic analyses and recordings of Kuzminykh’s telephone conversations with his mother, which the court deemed to confirm motives of political hatred. Kuzminykh was sentenced to 3,5 years in a penal colony and taken into custody in the courtroom.
