Savin Dmitrii Georgievich
Dmitrii Savin, a native of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, resided in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, with his wife and two children (one of whom is a minor). He worked as a locomotive engineer for the Gorky Railway and also took on side jobs as an electrical installer. Dmitry was detained a few days after he put up three leaflets in Dzerzhinsk in February 2024 bearing the message “Let’s stop the war together — Atesh,” photographs of which subsequently appeared on the Telegram channel of the “Atesh” movement. Savin was also accused of possessing a single pistol cartridge and filming the buildings housing the local Interior Ministry office and the patrol police battalion in Dzerzhinsk. Ultimately, the weapons possession charge was dropped; however, on charges of high treason and the incitement to and promotion of terrorism online, Savin was sentenced to 18 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
