The case against Crimean resident Petro Skrypnyk was opened because in September 2024, he spat in a supermarket box used to collect aid for those participating in the invasion of Ukraine. The box, which featured a Russian flag and a St. George's ribbon shaped like the letter Z, was intended for customers to leave various items for them. Skrypnyk was found guilty of desecrating a symbol of military glory and desecrating the Russian flag and sentenced to one year in a penal colony. He is likely to be incarcerated from the end of 2025.
