Ukrainian citizens, other than prisoners of war, deprived of liberty in connection with criminal charges

A list of the names of civilian Ukrainian citizens deprived of liberty in Russia and in the occupied territories of Ukraine, whose prosecution we believe shows signs of political motivation and unlawfulness.

Full description

Since the beginning of the Russian–Ukrainian conflict in 2014, and especially after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops on February 24, 2022, thousands of Ukrainians have become victims of politically motivated persecution. In this section, we collect information on cases involving those who have not been recognized by us as political prisoners but whose prosecution, in our view, shows clear signs of political motivation and unlawfulness. Information on Ukrainian prisoners of war subjected to criminal prosecution, as well as on civilian hostages not subjected to criminal charges, is provided in separate sections of our website.
